We are currently reviewing Sound, as many students did poorly on the quiz. I will retest on this on Friday. The students have a list of Sound vocabulary in their Science journals that may help them on the retest. See the list HERE. They will NOT have a separate quiz on this vocabulary, as this is for review of content. We will also have a short answer assessment over Westward Expansion, the Women of Sufferage, and Technological Advances of the 1800's. I will ask one or two short answer questions on each topic for them to show synthesis of the knowledge in addition to using webquests/activities completed in class towards their grade.
As the end of the term approaches (next Friday, March 14), we will also be giving performance assessments in class over the standards we have covered earlier this 9 weeks. **THESE ARE NOT SCHEUDLED, BUT WILL BE FIT IN AS TIME ALLOWS! Some areas being assessed in Math include 2x2 digit multiplication, 4 digit divided by 1 digit division, word problems using multiplication and division, as well as measurement units, and comparing decimals to hundredths. We will also have culminating assessments in Reading/ELA over meanings of unknown words/phrases from mythology, explaining cause and effect , main idea, and order of events in non-fiction text, using prepositional phrases in writing and speaking, and determining meaning of unknown words based on their Greek or Latin roots. Your child can review for these using IXL and Study Island. I will not send these home until after grades have been posted, as they are the final assessment of knowledge. I will also use classroom performance/work and observation to help determine their grade on a standard (this one test does not determine everything).
Finally, Field Day will be here before we know it! We are collecting orders for T-shirts through next Friday, March 14. If you need an order form, you can print one HERE. Coach Weaver also sent duplicates home today with students that requested one.
